It was born from a simple but ambitious idea: to bring the immersive, neon-lit energy of Tokyo's hidden bars to the streets of old Makati. Not a replica, but a reinterpretation. A space where Japanese precision meets Filipino warmth and spontaneity.
The founders chose Makati Cinema Square deliberately. The building itself carries decades of Manila nightlife history, and its underground corridors offered the perfect canvas for a speakeasy that rewards those who seek it out. The entrance is disguised as a toy shop. There is no sign on the door. You either know, or you don't.
Inside, the transformation is immediate. Neon signs cast pink and blue light across mirrored ceilings. Anime and manga murals stretch down hallways. Black-and-red booths line the walls. The sound system, purpose-built for the space, fills every corner with carefully curated music. +81 opened its doors in 2024, and from the first night, word spread by mouth alone.
